Claude is often used for writing and careful edits. A vague assignment still produces a generic draft. Tell it the reader, what must not change, and how long the result should be.
A stronger Claude prompt
For a rewrite, paste the exact passage and say whether you want it shorter, plainer, or aimed at a different reader. Ask it to preserve facts. If you only say “make this better,” the edit will invent a new tone.
For a long answer, set a stopping point: a section list, a word range, or “ask me before you continue.” That keeps the reply inside the job you actually have.
